The galaxy NGC 4501 (M88) belongs to the Hubble class SA(rs)b. Its disk is inclined by 57° with respect to the sky plane. This galaxy has a distance median value of 17.4 Mpc. Its south-western edge is bright in radio polarization due to magnetic field compression by the intracluster gas.
